Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is only a week away. Formal thanksgiving dinner and potluck are common way to celebrate this thankful holiday on the island. Bringing your famous dish to a potluck party will have everyone thank you for it. And for the formal thanksgiving dinner invitation; bringing wine, flowers or desert will be the best way to express your gratitude for the dinner invitation. Enjoy your great meal together with families and friends.

At Sweet Blossoms Hawaii, We would like to thank our customers for your patronization. We would like to thank our growers for their hard work on providing us the freshest flowers and lei. We would like to thank all those people who handle the flowers in between; those who take our orders, pack the flowers, ship and delivery them, Fex Ex carrier and inspectors. We would like to thank our families and children for your understanding. Wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Our Thanksgiving hours are Nov 25 (Thur) 8am-12pm, Nov 26 Closed.

I love this “I like the flowers” song

I love this song by Beat Boopers Children. After I heard it for the first time, I was hooked. It’s even got hula dancer!

I like the flowers, I like the daffodils, I like the mountains, I like the rolling hills, I like the fire side, when the lights are low – bum-di-yada, bum-di-yada, bum-di-yada, bum-di-yada…

Memorial Day

We made our grave site delivery to Diamond Head Cemetary on Memorial Day and boy, what a sight.  Graves were doted with flowers and flags.  I would say the graves are almost as decorated with flowers as much to during Easter or Chinese Ching Ming.

Budget is the buzzword

High school prom is probably one of the most memorable experience a high school student will encounter. But buying everything like dresses, shoes and other assessories can be expensive. To those who may not be able to afford them, now you have The Bella Project to the rescue.  The Bella Project founded by Amanda Ross, is offering free dresses and accessories to young ladies.  Their next event The Bella Boutique is going to be at the Honolulu Design Center on Saturday, March 13, 10 am- 2 pm.  First come first serve, so show up early.  KGMB Video

Holiday Disposal

It’s that time of the year.  It’s time to dispose your Christmas Trees, Wreaths and Kadomatsu as well.  The Kadomatsu is a little tricky. It was sort of temporary housing for the toshigami (god), so it is not exactly good luck to keep them around after the first week of January.  Don’t reuse them for pencil or nail holders.  Don’t try to paint them green and reuse them for other craft. Place it in a paper bag and sprinkle it with salt, then dipose it with the green waste can serve as an modern alternative to burning it.
